• Private Ranch Trails

So this summer I was lucky enough to get hired to do some trail work for a former business colleague of mine. He has a gorgeous ranch in the northern foothills, and plenty of space for some built features. He’s just getting his feet wet in the DH scene so we proposed to build some pretty low consequence, but bigger stuff. We put in 3 large tables, and a really fun bermed single track entrance. Everything turned out great, and he hired us for a second round, which this time was an 8 jump mountain crossy line. We lined up a bob cat and went to town in a dusting of fresh snow.

Of course the setup is private so don’t expect to ride any of this any time soon :p

So it’s time to make some room in the stable. I am currently selling 3 bikes and working on getting a 4th ready to sell. Check out the for sale links on the left if your looking for some new wheels.

  • A New Whip

So after the catastrophic failure of my old fork I decided it was time to replace the Dirt Jumper. I decided to go with the Transition Trail or Park. It’s a longer frame than my P1 allowing me enough room to x-up and a new manual balance point that I am still finding. Overall though the steel frame makes for a sweet ride and the Rock Shox Argyle is responsive and easy to adjust.

    Transition Trail or Park

I have taken the ride out now a few times, and have quickly stepped up to my regular lines, and even some new street moves. Here I am jumping the same jump that broke my last ride. Thanks to Shawn for the riding shot.

  • Best or Worst of Both Worlds?

I came across an interesting thread at the aprilla forum. A home made MX bike with Downhill bike parts. There’s also a commercial version being made in New Zealand. It’s a really cool idea and one I have gone over in my head many times. I’d really like to get my hands on one. I applaud these guys for their creativity and dedication but I wonder if it truly rides like a DH with an engine, or more of an underpowered moto…hopefully I can find out someday.

  • A Southwestern Tour

As is usually the case I had planned it all out on the computer. 10 days of simple living out of a tent, and finding myself on a bicycle. My itinerary was to take me through Summit County, Monarch Pass, Telluride, and Moab with friends in each location.
